Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Satara

The college is named alter the late Prime Minister Shri. Lal Bahadur Sahstri to commemorate his concern for jawans and Kisaan and for the masses and their upliftment. The college was unveiled at the auspicious hands of Smt. Lalitadevi Shastri. The college has been on the forefront in offering noted alumni who have contributed substantially to various fields at national and international levels and have enriched it to their maximum. To name a few: Late Nanda Jadhav -a veteran athlete who represented India in international Athletics Competition, Poland (Varsa) and a winner of award from the Board of sports was honored with the Chatrapati Award, Surekha Bhosale, the first motorwoman in Indian Railways and perhaps the first motorwoman at international level, Vijay Jadhav Captain of Maharashtra Kabaddi team and represented Maharashtra at National level and Chatrapati Award Winner, Manisha Shinde represented Shivaji University at national level in power lfting and ranked fifth, Sangram Uthale Captain of Maharashtra Kabaddi team, represented Maharashtra at the national level, Sayaji Shinde, renowned film and theatre actor featuring in Marathi, Hindi and South Indian film Industry. Shrikant Deshpande is shouldering responsibilities in “Indian Administrative Services’1 There are still numerous other alumni who have been holding high offices in different walks of Life. –
The aims and objectives behind opening and running this college were formulated considering the needs of beneficiaries i.e. local students and society at large. They are –
  • To prepare the students academically sound and help them to face university examinations successfully.
  • To help them to develop their overall personality by organizing various activities.
  • To lap the potentials of the gifted students and boost them.
  • To inculcate in them discipline, national integration, secularism, social commitments and human values.
  • To educate the first generation learners of educationally deprived communities.
  • To encourage backward communities and orthodox Muslims to send their Daughters for higher education,
  • To provide education to drop-outs and working students by running Arts and Commerce wings in morning session.
