Executive Summary National Mathematics Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Satara. Organized annually on December 22 to mark the birth anniversary of the legendary Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, the event aimed to cultivate a passion for mathematics among students, highlight career opportunities in the subject, and underline its practical relevance in daily life. The program featured keynote addresses, guest lectures, student competitions, and an academic felicitation ceremony.

1.      Inspirational Insights on Srinivasa Ramanujan: Chief Guest Dr. S. M. Pawar paid tribute to Srinivasa Ramanujan, highlighting how he made extraordinary contributions to world mathematics despite adverse conditions. He encouraged students to draw inspiration from Ramanujan’s determination and passion. He emphasized that mathematics is not merely about numbers, but a foundation for developing logic, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

2.      Career Opportunities and Skill-Based Education: Mr. Amit Kapare discussed the competitive employment landscape, emphasizing that degree acquisition must be complemented by technical knowledge and industry-relevant skills. He highlighted vast career pathways for mathematics graduates in fields like Data Science, Analytics, Banking, Insurance, IT, and Research.

3.      Role of Academic Discipline: Ms. Mizba Shaikh credited her professional success to the structured environment, quality teaching, and faculty support at LBS College, encouraging current students to strive toward their goals with self-confidence.

4.      Competitive Examination Guidance: Mr. Ritesh Yadav, who recently cleared the MPSC examination for the position of Sales Tax Inspector, inspired students by sharing strategies for competitive exams. He emphasized the importance of consistent study, structured planning, and a positive mindset.

Competitions and Student Activities

1.      Poster Presentation Competition: Students showcased creative posters on key topics, including "Mathematics Day", "Career Opportunities in Mathematics", "Fun with Maths", and "Fundamentals of Mathematics". The exhibition allowed students to translate complex mathematical concepts into visually engaging and accessible formats.

2.      Mathematical Rangoli Competition: An artistic competition was organized where participants created intricate Rangoli designs incorporating geometric shapes, equations, and mathematical theories—demonstrating a creative blend of art and mathematics.

3.      Felicitation of Meritorious Students: Students achieving academic excellence in mathematics were honored with certificates of merit to acknowledge their performance and motivate the broader student body.

Event Proceedings and Coordination

·         Introductory Address: Mr. A. M. Lakeri (HOD) welcomed attendees and explained the significance of National Mathematics Day, emphasizing the essential role of mathematics in modern science and technology.

·         Guest Introduction: Mr. S. A. Amande formally introduced the chief guest and speakers.

·         Presidential Remarks: Principal Mr. S. A. Mohite commended the Department of Mathematics for organizing a comprehensive event and urged students to maintain a positive approach toward learning mathematics.

·         Master of Ceremonies: Mrs. Savashe and Ms. C. C. Davari successfully anchored the proceedings.

·         Vote of Thanks: Mr. Kedar B. S. concluded the ceremony by expressing gratitude to the management, guests, faculty members, and student participants.

Conclusion The National Mathematics Day celebration at LBS College, Satara, concluded successfully with high participation from faculty and students. The event successfully renewed interest in mathematics and provided practical guidance regarding academic and career progression.
